BRAZILIAN WAX FAQ
WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN?
Simply put, a Brazilian wax is the removal of all pubic hair from front to back including a butt strip. Sometimes women prefer to live a little hair and that’s fine too!
WHY GET A BRAZILIAN?
Just like all other waxing, a Brazilian wax relieves women even more of their time sucking routines. It’s estimated that women will shave 72 days out of the year. Waxing frequently will thin the hair and slow it’s growth. Shaving does neither and causes the hair to feel sharp. There aren’t necessarily any health benefits to removing hair in the pubic region, in fact, biologically humans are meant to have hair. A Brazilian wax like all hair removal is purely cosmetic. However, from personal experience and what others will tell you is being hair free especially in our intimate area is an amazing feeling. Hair can be uncomfortable, itchy, course, and a source of odor. Even if their is no proof that one is more hygienic without pubic hair, it sure feels that way!
HOW PAINFUL IS A BRAZILIAN WAX?
The pain varies from person to person. Waxing in general is tolerable and after a few appointments becomes much more comfortable. For Brazilians there is no doubt that the first wax appointment can be very uncomfortable but it should never be so uncomfortable that you can’t finish. When a client returns a month later for their second Brazilian wax it is like night and day difference. They feel so relieved that the second wax is nothing like the first and from there they are hooked. This is why it’s encouraged to commit to more than one wax appointment. In all honesty I’ve never had a client tap out of a Brazilian wax and every single client has chosen to keep maintaining their Brazilian because they love it so much.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT LAST?
15 minutes! That’s it.
I personally don’t want to be receiving a Brazilian wax that takes longer than 15 minutes! I like to keep my clients busy schedules in mind. My clients appreciate the quick appointments and my efficient use of time.
WHAT TYPE OF WAX IS USED?
I use hard wax for all my waxing. I’ve been receiving Brazilians for over 10 years and have experienced both soft and hard wax. It wasn’t till I was properly trained in using hard wax that I fell head over heals with it. Before it was hard to tell which wax I preferred. Soft wax is very harsh and takes so much skin as the strips are ripped off. I had technicians who didn’t know what they were doing when they used hard wax and I found it uncomfortable as well. Now that have experienced waxing and being waxed I very much prefer hard wax. I invest in a very high quality hard wax. It’s expensive! It is formulated to work at low temperatures so there is little to no risk of burning! After hard wax is applied it cools and shrinks around their hair. Once pulled away it removes the hair while leaving the skin more intact in comparison to soft wax. I’ve had many clients report having less of an issue with ingrown hair where previously they struggled with it while receiving soft wax Brazilians.
HOW FREQUENT SHOULD WAXES BE?
Typically every 4 weeks is the magic time frame. However, some clients hair growth can be very fast and prefer 3 weeks. Other clients have very slow hair growth and can go much longer than 4 weeks. You and your technician will be able to gauge what the best time frame is for you and your schedule.
