WHO CAN RECEIVE PERMANENT MAKEUP/ PERMANENT COSMETICS?
After a thorough consultation to rule out any contraindications, most anyone can receive permanent cosmetics. Permanent Cosmetics are ideal for those who have poor eyesight or shaky hands that hinder their ability to get ready everyday. Permanent Makeup can help to restore the appearance of hair for those that have received certain medical treatments (i.e. chemo) which can cause hair loss and hair sometimes is never completely restored. It is very ideal for individuals who live an active and/or busy lifestyle and don't want to fuss over filling in brows daily. It is also a great option for anyone with naturally full brows that just want to have those perfectly defined brows.
WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP/PERMANENT COSMETICS?
Permanent Cosmetics or Permanent Makeup is cosmetic tattooing of the skin. With the use of needles, pigment is deposited into the layers of the skin. Although there is a need for touch up appointments with the newer methods of cosmetic tattooing, it by all means is still considered permanent and NOT semi-permanent.
WHAT WILL I EXPECT MY APPOINTMENT TO BE LIKE AND HOW LONG WILL THE APPOINTMENT BE?
At the beginning of your appointment you will have paperwork to fill out. Afterwards, we will begin a thorough analysis of your brows and what you want and don't want them to look like. Before beginning the process of permanent makeup, your skin will be completely numbed. The most important part happens at this moment. We will begin a detailed process of mapping out the most appropriate brow shape your you. While this usually is the most accurate way to ensure the correct and most symmetrical brow, there is still room left for artistry and detail to come in to play to make your brows uniquely yours and not identical to anyone else (aka cookie cutter brows). After the brow mapping comes the actual application of permanent makeup which happens to be a very quick process. Upon completion of the first pass there is a second pass over the brow completing the look. The entire appointment time lasts 1.5 to 2 hours.
WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE?
Recovery depends on your skin and how well you follow post care protocols. Healing varies from person to person. While some skin may be more sensitive and left red or puffy from the procedure, others may be able to return back to work as if nothing invasive occurred. Either way, it is a manageable and tolerable recovery. For eyeliner procedures, typical symptoms post procedure are swollen, puffy lids much like you've had a good long cry. As healing takes place, you will see the permanent make up change from dark shades to light shades continually until about 6 weeks when results are final. It is important to follow post care instructions for best results and also to not worry constantly about how the brow appear while healing.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
It is impossible to predict the length of time permanent makeup will last for your specific skin. Results last a year or 10 years. Everyone’s skin and body holds the pigment differently and some may find the pigment fades quicker than others. Most people generally book touch ups once a year to maintain the freshness and quality of the look.
DO PERMANENT COSMETICS HURT?
Some discomfort may be expected but generally the discomfort experienced only occurs during part of the procedure and is very tolerable. On a scale of 1-10 most claim to experience a level of 0-3. It is important to understand that topical anesthetics used during this procedure are designed specifically for permanent makeup procedures ensuring you the most comfortable experience. Anesthetic is applied before beginning the service as well during the service to keep brow area anesthetized.
